Dogstival 2019

January 25, 2019

On 18th & 19th May 2019 Chris will be hosting Dogstival, a fabulous two-day festival and celebration of ‘all things dog’ set in the stunning surroundings of Pylewell Park in the New Forest.

A great day out for dogs.

The weekend is set to be the best day out a dog could ever wish for. There’ll be some of the most exciting dog show acts from across the UK demonstrating skill, intelligence and bravery on the main stage. Talks from experts and charities on the interesting and great work they do, from organisations who help manage our ancient woodlands, to leading vets, authors and unsung local rescue centres caring for unwanted pets.

More than your usual dog show.

Dogstival will be a bit different from other dog shows or events. It will fuse lifestyle, environment and take a deeper interest in the mental health and wellbeing of our pets. What goes on in their minds when we leave them alone for a couple of hours and they decide to chew a pair of shoes? How do they need to be stimulated? What are the signs we need to be looking for in a healthy, happy dog.

To help everyone understand this more, Dogstival is building a specialist ‘behaviour arena’. Basically, a set-designed house and garden with a shop at the end of the road where experts will answer questions and try to demonstrate how we can be even better owners.

The weekend will also celebrate wonderful artisan New Forest food, drink and craft producers. Pylewell Park’s fields will be full of stands with treats, gifts or food to keep any dog’s tail wagging furiously.

Something for every dog.

If yours is an active or inquisitive dog, there will also be agility flyball and ‘distraction ally’ to try. If relaxing is more your dog’s thing, Dogstival has a pampering zone where everyone can sit back and listen to some soothing blues or soul music whilst our pets check in for a brush, massage or a trim.

Dogstival isn’t short of water either. If your dog loves splashing around they’ll be able to launch themselves into the K9 Aqua Splash pool or take a more leisurely dip in Pylewell Park’s very own beach that stretches for a couple of miles with views across to the Isle of Wight.

For families with younger children, Dogstival has a vintage fun-fair and a canine learning zone. Basically, there’s so much to do and explore so if you’re bonkers about dogs, Dogstival is the perfect day out.
